David C. Federman received his B.A. degree with High Honors in Economics from the Pennsylvania State
University in 1974 and earned his law degree from the Georgetown
University Law Center in 1977. Mr. Federman returned to graduate school
in mid-career, earning his Masters of Public Health degree from Harvard
University in 1995.
Mr. Federman has over thirty years
of experience as a civil trial attorney, spending the first part of
his career representing hospitals and physicians as a partner with one
of the top litigation firms in Philadelphia, White and Williams, LLP.
In that capacity he successfully obtained numerous jury verdicts on
behalf of physicians and other health care providers in the state and
Federal courts in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
After receiving his M.P.H. from
Harvard in 1995, Mr. Federman began representing seriously injured
victims of medical malpractice, defective products and general
negligence as a trial attorney with the prestigious Beasley Firm. In
that capacity he secured multiple six and seven figure jury verdicts and
settlements on behalf of injured victims in the state and Federal courts
in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Mr. Federman has first-chaired over
thirty-five complex jury trials to verdict and has litigated countless
other cases which resulted in favorable settlements and outcomes for his
respective clients on both sides of the aisle.
Mr. Federman has extensive
experience in the appellate courts, having briefed and argued cases in
the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, the Pennsylvania Superior Court, and the
U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Mr. Federman has taught as an
adjunct professor of health care at the Widener Health Law Institute and
has lectured on various issues concerning trial practice, civil
litigation and medical malpractice. He serves as a Judge Pro Tem in the
Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County, has carried the
prestigious AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell for over twenty-five
years, is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and has been
selected as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer for the years 2006 and 2008
Mr. Federman is a member of the
bars of Pennsylvania and New Jersey and various local and state bar and
trial lawyer associations. In November 2015, Mr. Federman was elected to
serve as a member of the School Board of the Lower Merion School
District, where he proudly represents his community.
